Richard Gruetter
Richard Gruetter (b. Portland, OR) lives in Oregon and retired in El Aguila, Spain after a position as Collegiate Professor of Art and Art History at one of University of Maryland’s global campuses. His films have screened at the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, NY), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN), Theatre Vanguard (Los Angeles, CA) and the Palais de Art (Paris, France). In the mid-80s Gruetter returned to painting to further express his interests in nature, light and personal narrative. At this time he completed a number of large scale corporate commissions in Oregon and Washington, exhibited with Sumi Arts, Bank of Japan (Hong Kong) and at the Minato Ku City Hall (Tokyo, Japan). His works are included in the collections of the Portland Art Museum (Portland, OR) and the Northwest Film Center (Portland, OR). The Collectif Jeune Cinema (Paris, France) distribues his films.
