Hamilton presents “We Will Sing” at Salts Mill

Ann Hamilton recently unveiled “We Will Sing: Letters to the Future,” a new site-specific installation at Salts Mill in Bradford, UK.

As Hamilton’s first major UK work in over 30 years, “We Will Sing” is an exhibition of memory and imagining. It honors the district’s heritage as a world center of the wool industry—with wool, raw and woven, figuring prominently as fleece, curtains, clothing, and felted images. In Hamilton’s words:

Wool, central to innovative work on regenerative practices in textiles, farming, and land husbandry, is the past and the future.

Additionally, a 15-minute film titled, “Hands of We Will Sing” by Ali Lycett, is exhibited as part of the “We Will Sing” installation, offering an intimate portrait of Hamilton and her process as she created the expansive exhibition.
